I'm sorry I missed your sale. I just found your blog.
I'm really intrigued by the idea of a solar-powered generator. I live in a south-facing second-floor apartment overlooking an open field. I have a balcony where I could put the generator in the sun.
I have a question. I know that the huge arrays in the deserts of the Southwest track with the sun to optimize efficiency. Do you know if anyone has developed that sort of capability for small units like yours?

Thank you for the comment.  We'll have at least one sale in 2011 and the 30% federal tax credit is still active (or you can always call 540-271-3403 and see what Scott's Emergency Preparedness mood is that day   As for the balcony, each panel is about 5'x3' and although one panel is great, we believe two panels make the best system (one comes w/base unit).  You'd need to get it above (or outside) any railing since the smallest shadow on any cell degrades energy generation significantly.  As for tracking, many places like backwoodssolar.com sell mounts and trackers for single or multiple panels, but the gain is minimal - pointing south at an angle based on your latitude works just fine and if you can give it a morning sun then afternoon sun nudge, even better.  Hope to hear from you, thanks, Jenny
